The Plastic Bag Free Raglan – Pēke Kirihou Kore Whāingaroa initiative was a successful collaborative community led project targeted specifically at eliminating single-use plastic shopping bags from Whāingaroa. This award winning project is an exemplar and a model for how a whole community – businesses, groups and individuals, can work together to achieve sustainable change.
The valuable lessons learned and the methodology employed has been documented in a Case Study Guide – ‘A Purposeful Project’ – for other communities to utilise to assist in forming and delivering similar initiatives aimed at engaging a whole community to work together to tackle a significant issue impacting our natural environment.
Plastic Bag Free Raglan was a community collaboration between:
Raglan Chamber of Commerce, Xtreme Zero Waste, Para Kore, Raglan Community Board and Whāingaroa Environment Centre.
